The Road to Ombi

After critical acclaim and a loyal following at the Yellow Porch and The Wild Iris, Laura and Kim decided to consider their options and venture out on their own. Both women understood the chemistry of two chefs working together is much more creative than alone, and decided to become business partners. This is where Ombi comes in; the owners heard about the duo and decided that the combo had what it takes to reinvent the Ombi concept at the 2214 Elliston Place location, formally also known as Le Peep.

Closing for only four days, the women reopened to happy local regulars, who had missed their time out of the kitchen spot light. The menu is a combination of two great chefs comfortable after thirty two plus years combined in the industry. The food is fresh and classically prepared. The creativity is always present but with the restraint that only a seasoned chef shows.

What's in a name

The name is pronounced "oombi," which is a South African word meaning "heat, breeze and tenderness."
